The 81 German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) represent the interests of 3.6 million member companies of commerce, industry and the service sector towards public authorities in their region and offer extensive services to them. By means of publications and numerous events as well as individual advice, the member companies receive important orientation for their business activities abroad. This includes particular information about the market in more than 120 countries, questions on market-access, the mediation of international business contacts, import and export regulations, information about custom duties and assistance in setting up business and joint ventures abroad. In addition, the IHK-member companies and individuals receive certificates of origin and other written documents indispensable for the transport of goods in foreign countries from their local Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
